Easter Break!

Easter Break!

Easter Break is finally here! It doesn’t mean that nothing happened this week, lots of things to do! Nice things, and slightly scary things. Monday I had the honour to do SEEK again in the morning. I’m supposed to do this with a student, but this time I chose not to. There was a reason for it. This week’s theme was ‘Perseverance’. Rein and I wanted the students to learn a Bible verse by heart, always good to have something to fall back on in times of dispair. I ones heard that when you learn a Bible verse by heart, it gets saved somewhere in our memory and is not easy to get out again. But how do you do something like that, learning something by heart all together? “Let’s put some music on it”, is what I thought. After some time in the Music Room, I succeeded in putting music on James 1:12. Having only 4 lines of music was kind of sad, so I wrote some more around it. It’s no Hillsong/Bethel material yet, but still I wanted to share it with the fellow students. I do believe that when we have talents, we’re ought to share it with people around us. Getting some compliments afterwards might benefit to it as well.

More things were to follow on the Monday! Rein had the awesome idea to make a fort blanket on our Date Night. We got all the sheets we could find, good thing were married, this means that we have lots of double sized blankets! We tied the sheets to the curtains, put them under books and used clothe picks to attach the blankets to each other. Our fairy lights made sure that we could make it cozy inside. It looked so ‘hygge’! When our fort was finished (pictures made and everything), we watched a movie and slept in it. It’s awesome to act like a child ones in a while, just doing whatever you feel like doing.

Holidays coming up means ‘House Make Over’, or just: cleaning. We all got divided into groups, got responsibility over a certain part of this ginormous house and started to clean. Floors, windows, floorboards, walls… Just name it, we cleaned it. In a moment like that you realise how a bunch of people can make a house look dirty in an awfully short time. Let it be a warning to clean our own house often enough, hihi. Our own rooms needed a hand as well. A check up was going to happen on Friday. Anyway, a thorough cleaning can be good as well, ones in while.

Wednesday we had our Easter Party! Every trimester ends with a nice meal and being together, before the break. This time we had to come dressed up, based on the story of the Passover. Although a lot of people came in Egyptian style, we decided to come as the ten commandments. Our neighbours were the burning bush and a mummy. My other friend here was the Red Sea with lots of fished stuck on here. It looked funny all together.

And here we are, the end of the week. When I write this blog, were Saturday morning. Our bags are packed. In an hour we will leave for Belgium! Oh yeah! Taking time to visit some friends and family. It’s amazing to be here, but it’s also very nice to see the people in Belgium again. The downside of today is that we have to say goodbye to our Swiss friends. They were here for only 3 months, and they’re done now. That’s how it goes on a school like this, people come and people go. Not always fun. I’m going to miss them really bad, but it’s part of the deal. It’s nice to know though, that from now on we will have friends all over Europe. Who knows who we’ll meet where in the future. Lots of adventure’s are still to come!

PS: our mission trip will be in the Philippines!
